Hey Joey,

I am in search of an automated soft toss machine and have narrowed my choices to the Wheeler Dealer Spitter and the Atec Soft Toss Trainer. Have you had any experience using the Atec Soft Toss machine?

I have read your review on the Spitter and it sounds impressive. A recommendation and any information comparing the two units would be greatly appreciated. I have really enjoyed reading your site!

Swing Smarter Response:
Hey George, good question and thank you for your kudos on the site, I'm glad your found it helpful.

I have hit with the ATEC soft toss machine, back in High School and College. I loved it and never had a problem with it back then. Checking out the dealer's website (atecsports.com)an, it also comes with a Jim Lefebvre Comprehensive Training Program, and as you may know from browsing Swing Smarter.com, he's one of my personal favorites when it comes to hitting technique.

I don't think you can go wrong with either machine, however there are two major differences: price and guarantee.

The Wheeler Dealer is guaranteed for 5 years, while the ATEC soft toss machine has a 2 year limited warranty.

Prices online range for the ATEC machine, between $430 to over $800 shipped. The price of the Wheeler Dealer in The Starting Lineup Store is $379 shipped.

I LOVE the Wheeler Dealer George, and that's why I've included in the store :) I hope this helps.

Right on brother, I like your thinking. I also like the "lever arm" feature of the ATEC machine...not sure if it's as big of a deal with a soft toss machine as a pitching machine, but I see your point :) Thanks for the extra information

More Differences
by: George

Joey,
Thank you for your viewpoint on the Wheeler Dealer and the Atec soft toss machine. To expand a bit more on the differences between the two devices the Wheeler Dealer offers a frequency control knob that permits one to adjust the toss speed anywhere from 1-6 seconds to work on fast hitting drills, the Atec does not have this feature. However one feature the Atec does have that the Spitter does not is a lever arm that will visually show the batter when the ball is ready to be discharged. I showed my son the YouTube video of each machine and he favored the Atec because of this. In my opinion this would be no different than hitting from a pitching machine with an arm versus a pitching machine with wheels/tires and we all know how you feel about those!! I couldn?t agree with you more though you wouldn?t go wrong with either unit.
